EdVenture presents a new immersive experience for visitors of all ages with our brand new Musical Tesla Coil! Thanks to the generous support from our friends at Dominion Energy, this mesmerizing performance of manufactured lightning will fascinate children and adults alike as they learn about the father of electricity, Nikola Tesla, and his incredible invention of Alternating Current (AC).
The music of the Tesla Coil comes from the frequency of the coil itself. Sing along to “Happy Birthday,” swing your hands to “Sandstorm,” or simply sit back and be amazed by the incredible dancing electricity that is displayed before your very eyes!

Tesla Showtimes
Tesla showtimes are currently varying each day. Check with the front desk upon arrival to find out what time the next Tesla Coil show will be playing.
Stay SAFE inside the Tesla Theater:
- Keep headphones on the entire time the coil is in operation.
- Follow the instructions of the facilitator and remain in your seat behind the rope barrier.
- This show is not advisable for anyone with a pacemaker or internal electronic device.
THE HISTORY BEHIND THE COIL EdVenture acquired its musical Tesla coil in late 2023. It is supported in part by Dominion Energy and Richard and Mary Ellen Mathias of the Tesla Coil Museum Exhibit Program.
EdVenture is sparking curiosity–quite literally–with its musical Tesla Coil. In late 2023, EdVenture acquired the coil, which was engineered and constructed by the Tesla Coil Museum Exhibit Program (TCMEP) and Aron Koscho of applied Tesla Technology, Inc. TCMEP is founded by Richard and Mary Ellen Mathias, whose mission is to bring learning of electricity and engineering to life for young minds everywhere. They have placed more than 15 Tesla Coils in museums and science centers across the country.
