Summary: The Museum Content Coordinator is responsible for supporting education efforts directed at fulfilling the Museum’s mission by ensuring high quality content associated with our exhibits. This position works with technical and non-technical Museum staff to develop compelling interactive exhibit experiences.
Work Schedule and Conditions: Regular schedule of 40 hours per week in a museum environment. Must be able to work a flexible schedule including evening, weekend, and holiday shifts. Position requires moving throughout the Museum for extended periods of time, lifting and carrying materials and other heavy items.
Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
- Developing engaging and inclusive interactive exhibit experiences through presentations, digital storytelling techniques, and hands-on activities that expand the visitors’ experience.
- Coordinating work with the exhibit developers and fabricators throughout the development and design stages to ensure the exhibit is a compelling educational experience for visitors.
- Serving as lead trainer on exhibit content and related subjects.
- Assessing effectiveness of exhibit content and presentations through regular data collection designed to demonstrate programmatic impact and effectiveness.
- Maintaining inventory of all exhibit materials, including Maker, ensuring a well-organized storage system, replenishing supplies, and monitoring expenditures.
- Performing routine inspections of the exhibits and the interactive components, relaying any needed enhancements or repairs to the exhibits team.
- Participating in collaborative exhibit development and design meetings.
- Working with community partners to enhance exhibit facilitation techniques at no- or low cost.
- Participating in special activities and other projects as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must have a passion for connecting educational content with exhibits.
- Working knowledge of children’s interests and their cognitive development.
- Minimum of three years’ experience working in education, museums, or other related areas.
- Must be a proficient writer with excellent oral communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to work as a team player and meet deadlines.
- Proficient with computer software, AV, videoconferencing, projectors, etc.
- Experience in creating content for children is highly desirable.
Job Type: Full-time
