HOST YOUR NEXT EVENT AT EDVENTURE CHILDREN’S MUSEUM

EdVenture offers a unique venue for any event. Whether taking the entire museum for a big celebration of 1,000 people on our riverfront terrace or hosting an intimate gathering with as few as 20 people in one of our program rooms, treat your guests to a beautiful, downtown evening with no parking hassles.

Available Spaces

The Heart of Eddie

From the main entrance, to our main attraction, Eddie, renting the Heart of Eddie includes all of the Lobby and walkway leading to the world's tallest 10-year-old. This space is perfect for ceremonies, dances and art exhibits, etc.

The Canal Room

The Canal Room is our most popular rental space. Located in the lower level of the museum, this rental option offers a large space for guests, access to plasma TV’s for presentations/ photo slideshows, private restrooms, a small prep/ service kitchen, as well as a private entrance.

CAPACITY: 100 seated with tables, 300 standing reception/ theater seating

COST: $400 (four hours/ before 5pm), $600 (eight hours/ before 5pm) $800 (four hours/ evening), $1600 (9:00am – 11:00pm)

The Think Tank

The Think Tank is our second largest space. This room can be arranged in a number of ways to allow for guests, activities and food. The Think Tank does not come with its own prep kitchen, but with its unique shape, allows for separation of food, guests, and activities. Great for smaller parties, trainings, or meetings.

CAPACITY: 70 seated with tables, 120 standing reception/ theater seating

COST: $300 (four hours/ before 5pm), $500 (eight hours/ before 5pm) $600 (four hours/ evening), $1200 (9:00am – 11:00pm)

Program Rooms

The program rooms, located on the second floor, are great for smaller capacity functions and are the perfect add-on for larger rentals looking to hold small break-out sessions. These rooms come with counter space, as well as a sink in each room.

The Loft

The Loft is located on the mezzanine of EdVenture and offers views of SCSM and some of the great skyline of Columbia. Perfect for a smaller meeting, birthday party, or other intimate events. The Loft comes with counter space, as well as a sink.

EdVenture's First Floor

EdVenture’s first floor is a beautiful space with four world-class galleries, the Imaginarium. Add outdoor fun by renting the museum’s beautiful 12,000-square-foot riverfront terrace overlooking the Congaree River.

Congaree Terrace

Celebrate under the stars on our stunning 12,000-square-foot terrace. The Congaree River and Gervais Street Bridge are beautiful backdrops to this spacious outdoor area with ample room for a stage, lounge area, food and beverage set up, dance floor and seating. Perfect for a wedding reception, prom or gala!

COST: $2000 (6:00 – 11:00pm), $2500 (Terrace and Lobby: 6:00 – 11:00pm)

EdVenture: Full Museum

Rent the entire EdVenture facility and gain access to all eight of our world-class galleries, all meeting spaces and program rooms.

Catering/Alcohol

You are free to use the caterer and bartending service of your choice. If you are looking for help, we do have a list of preferred vendors. Please ask our rental team.

 

EdVenture requires events using catering services supply a copy of the Business License and Certificates of Insurance. Alcohol is NOT permitted during operational hours due to the nature of our business. 

Evening events are permitted to serve alcohol with the purchase of an ABC Special Event Permit, if such licensing is not permitted via selected catering company. This permit must be provided to EdVenture within 14 days of the event. Service of alcohol without proper documentation will result in immediate voiding of contract and event must immediately vacate premises.

Set-Up

Rentals are allotted 60 minutes prior to the start of their event for set-up, as well as 60 minutes post the end of the event for tear down. Start/End times are as stated on the Rental Agreement Contract. Additional time may be purchased, based on availability. Purchase of additional time must be added to contract and paid in full within 14 days of scheduled event. 

 

Renter is responsible for set-up and break-down. All events must conclude by 11pm.

All rentals include the use of the following items:

60” Round Dining Tables * 8’ Buffet Tables (3 available) * 6’ Buffet Tables

30” Bar-Height (elbow) Tables * Chairs (2 different styles)

Security

Evening events serving alcohol: $50/hr per guard (1 guard required per 100 people).
** EdVenture books security and the cost will be added to invoices.

Deposits, Discounts, Fees & Cancellations

All rentals require a 50% non-refundable deposit within 7 days of booking a reservation. The balance is due within 14 days of the event, unless otherwise stated in rental contract. Rental fees DO NOT include cleaning, A/V, or security fees. Audio/visual equipment can be rented for an additional fee.

Cancellations must be done within 14 days of the event, in writing/email. Upon your cancellation you will be refunded any payment(s) toward the rental cost, excluding the deposit. 

Discounted rates may be available for 501(c)3 organizations with proof of status.

FAQs

Who handles the catering?

EdVenture does not require the use of specific catering services. The only requirement are copies of the Business License of Certification of Insurance be provided within 14 business days of scheduled event. We do have a listing of preferred vendors we can provide for those needing assistance with catering.

 

Can Alcohol Be Served?

Alcohol can only be served after hours when the museum is closed to the public. Evening events serving/ offering alcohol must purchase and provide a copy of an ABC Special Event Permit, if such licensing is not available via selected catering company. This permit must be provided to EdVenture within 14 days of the event. Service of alcohol without proper documentation will result in immediate voiding of contract and event must immediately vacate premises. Evening events with alcohol are also required to have security during the duration of the event. Please ask our rental specialists about this process.

 

How early can my event begin?

Daytime events can begin as early as 8am. After-hours events in rental spaces can begin at 5pm. After-hours events in general public spaces can begin at 6pm, one hour after the public closing of the museum.

 

How long can my event last?

Daytime events can be either four or eight hours long. After-hours events may last up to five hours and must end no later than 11pm.

 

Are rehearsals included in wedding rentals?

We will accommodate a wedding rehearsal at no additional cost based on our available space and time. Normally, these occur between 6-8 pm on the day before your wedding, but we will make individual arrangements with you in the planning process

 

Can I have a band or DJ at my event?

Yes, you can hire musical entertainment for your event. We are happy to provide helpful information and walk through proposed setups.

 

How early can I set up my event?

Daytime events must be set up 60 minutes prior to the four or eight hour rental period. After-hours events in general public spaces may begin to set up at the time of public closing. Rentals of public spaces may not interfere with public access, enjoyment or safety while setting up prior to museum closing.
