Great Parenting 101
Series
EdVenture is offering a series of free monthly
workshops for parents covering a broad base of topics that
are of interest to families with children:
March 27, 2008 7:00- 8:30 p.m. Dr. James R.
Stallworth, M. D. is the Principal Investigator and Director
of the South Carolina Institute for Childhood Obesity and
Related Disorders. He will discuss “Childhood Obesity and
What Parents Can Do.”
April 24, 2008 7:30- 8:30 p.m. Jennifer Baker, PharmD,
RPh, is the Director of Professional Affairs, the SCphA
staff pharmacist and professional advisor of CPN. She will
be discussing “Your Child’s Prescription and
Over-the-Counter Medications.”May 22, 2008 7:30- 8:30
p.m. Dr. Robert Walker, M.D. is the director of Medical
affairs at Medimmune, a biotechnology enterprise that
develops better medicines for patients. He practiced
pediatrics for 25 years and will be discussing “Raising an
Emotionally Healthy Child.”
No registration required. These events will be held at
EdVenture.

Ever wonder which books are best to
read with your five-year-old? Or which activities help them
learn in a fun way? If so, EdVenture can help!
Every summer, EdVenture Children’s
Museum teams
up with
South Carolina First Steps to bring you a statewide
school-readiness initiative known as Countdown to
Kindergarten. EdVenture and First Steps will utilize local
media to offer tips, advice and resources all summer long
for parents who have children starting kindergarten each
fall. WLTX,
Channel 19, will air pre-recorded tips during
their regular broadcast rotation.
