NEW! Explore the world of Curious George in the museum’s traveling exhibit about the inquisitive monkey. Children discover their own curiosity while exploring fun math and science activities. Limited time only! February 10 – May 29, 2009.
This program is designed and taught by firefighters on staff at EdVenture. It teaches children fire and life safety skills so they will be better prepared for emergency situations. Children are taught about smoke alarms, home escape plans and how to conduct a 911 call (using our 911 simulator). Children will be entertained and involved in an interactive puppet show, meet a firefighter in full gear, crawl through a dark tunnel, explore a real fire engine and slide down a fire pole and see EdVenture’s presentation of Home Safe Home.
Students will carry out investigations to learn the value of good health habits like hand-washing. They will learn about germs, what they are and how they are spread as they hear ways to stay healthy by doing simple activities every day.
What do you want to be when you grow up? This program invites children to work in our community. Students can explore professions in a grocery store, on a farm, in a garage, on a building site or in a fire station.
Children will explore the Critter Garden by looking at some of South Carolina’s native plants and animals. They will talk about animal life cycles and habitats and learn the different parts of plants, from roots to petals.
Healthy habits are an important part of everyone’s life. Students take a look at how their bodies work and the best way to care for them. They choose healthy foods in Lil’ Bird’s Diner, view X-rays, visit the dentist’s office and explore EDDIE’s digestive system.

Children are introduced to Marc Chagall and his colorful world of paintings as they visit the Chagall for Children exhibit. Students explore concepts such as themes, colors, forms and structures, while expressing their own artistic side with paint. Limited Time Only! September 16 – December 19, 2008
Make chemistry a household word! In Dr.Kitchen Science, kids can participate in hands-on experiments or watch cool demonstrations using things found around the house. As children learn about solids, liquids and gases, they participate in activities that may include blowing up balloons without using your mouth, making silly putty or cooking a treat.
The human body has lots of ways of finding out about the world. It uses senses to pick up clues and make sense of those clues. In this lesson, students will learn how ears hear, eyes see, tongues are able to taste, noses smell and skin feels. Students will also explore how different senses work together with the brain to help us live a safe and healthy life.

Even though it rarely snows in our region, EdVenture wants children to understand and explore the world of ice and snow! This new program gives students the opportunity to explore the phases of matter and discover illustrations of the different behaviors of liquids, gases and solids.

The body is an amazing machine full of parts that work together and it is important to keep our bodies healthy. Students learn about the different parts of their body, how they work and how to keep it healthy. They learn about the digestive system and nutrition, oral health and more.
New! It's electric! Students learn and experience how current electricity can heat things up and make things move. They will see the wonder of static electricity from a tiny shock from a carpet to the power of a lightning bolt from the sky. They may even see a pickle that glows!

Make, fly and modify a glider!: Students will experience hands-on activities that promote experimental design, scientific inquiry skills, inventive experimentation, discussion of variables in an experiment, collaborative learning, team-building skills and recording and analyzing data.
What better way to learn about math and physics than to experiment with a real catapult! Students will work in small groups to learn about catapults, the design of the machine, and how to collect data. Then the entire class will set up a chain reaction of events to demonstrate their knowledge.
